2. Brief Introduction to the Technical Committee

The Technical Committee on Imaging, Detection and Perception is committed to solving the key scientific issues in imaging detection and perception. While closely following the frontier of the discipline, it maintains close ties with the industry and focuses on addressing practical problems, mainly covering the following two aspects:

1. Integration of Disciplinary Development and Detection Mechanisms

The coordinated development, interdisciplinary integration and systematic research of optoelectronics, physics, computer science, automatic control and other disciplines are bound to promote the improvement and innovation of imaging detection mechanisms. The future development of imaging detection will roughly move towards the following directions: (1) Tendency towards multi-band/multi-spectral, multi-polarization and multi-mode collaborative operation; (2) Development towards ultra-high resolution and multi-mode; (3) New breakthroughs in target recognition, monitoring and imaging technologies; (4) Multi-sensor information fusion technology. Regarding perception, "sensing" involves data acquisition, which covers the research contents of the first two directions; while "cognition" involves data understanding, which includes the research contents of the latter two directions. Therefore, the intersection and integration of the two are bound to affect the fundamental issue of imaging detection, namely the detection mechanism. Meanwhile, the improvement and innovation of the detection mechanism also directly impact the intelligent understanding of image information.

2. Interdisciplinary Systematic Integration to Solve Practical Problems

The interdisciplinary integration of imaging detection and perception with related disciplines can resolve numerous practical problems in machine vision and image analysis. It enables researchers to comprehensively and deeply understand the imaging process and subsequent analysis and processing procedures, thereby designing and developing more intelligent imaging detection equipment and analysis methods for the convenience of users. From the user's perspective, advanced imaging detection equipment can provide clearer, information-rich and feature-distinct data for the intelligent analysis and understanding of information, and also facilitate the upgrading and updating of understanding methods. The integration of the two is also conducive to the integration of industry, academia and research, improves the industrial chain, and accelerates the industrialization of relevant equipment and systems.

With the increasing requirements of national defense and military affairs, social life, industrial automation and intellectualization, as well as the growing dependence on visual information, imaging detection and perception have been increasingly widely applied in various fields and are playing an increasingly important role. However, the research in imaging detection and perception regarding imaging methods, imaging mechanisms, intelligent information processing, image analysis, pattern recognition and other aspects is still incomplete, and many problems remain to be solved urgently. The establishment of this technical committee will play a positive role in promoting the integration and intersection of related disciplines, and build a sound communication platform between researchers and users, thus boosting the rapid and coordinated development of this field.

Timely and accurate monitoring of the river regime changes and sudden ice jam events in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River has long been a major challenge for flood and ice jam prevention decision-making. Manual survey suffers from poor accuracy and timeliness. Centering on the major demand of flood and ice jam prevention of the Yellow River, this project has developed the technology of multi-source image collaborative analysis for flood and ice jam monitoring. It discovered and established a relational model between the main flow of the Yellow River and remote sensing information, and for the first time revealed the complementary mechanism between the remote sensing characteristics of the main flow and multi-spectral information. Besides, it established a collaborative extraction technology system for the main flow information of the Yellow River, breaking through the difficulty of remote sensing extraction of the main flow line. The project also proposed a multi-spectral-SAR remote sensing collaborative detection method for ice jam, which improved the accuracy of ice jam monitoring, and developed a multi-source collaborative remote sensing monitoring software system. Up to now, the technology and system have been successfully applied in more than 20 Yellow River management institutions, achieving remarkable disaster reduction benefits.
